Merely Receiving Confidential Information Isn’t Enough: Georgia Court Dismisses Tortious Interference with Contract Claim in Trade Secret Case

In HI Technology, Georgia District Court Judge Thomas W. Thrash Jr. held that a former employer’s complaint did not sufficiently allege—as a matter of Georgia law—that an employee’s new employer had tortiously interfered with that employee’s employment agreement with his former employer by merely accepting emails that contained the former employer’s confidential information. Accordingly, Judge Thrash granted the new employer’s motion to dismiss.

Las Cruces Woman Sentenced to Prison for Embezzlement

Roberto worked in the accounting office of Mesilla Valley Transportation, and from 2011 to 2018, she used her position to embezzle about $1.3 million, U.S. Attorney spokesman Scott Howell said in a news release.

Officials said Roberto used two third-party payment processors – Comdata and Electronic Funds Source – to pull off the embezzlement.

Helena Attorneys Charged with Embezzlement

A father and daughter who are attorneys in Helena were each charged with 10 felony counts of embezzlement and three felony counts of exploitation of an incapacitated person after some of their clients were allegedly cheated out of $1.35 million, according to court documents filed recently.

The father faces an additional count of felony tampering with witnesses or informants for allegedly trying to have a witness withhold testimony or information.

Morro Bay Property Manager Accused of Embezzlement, Fraud

An Atascadero woman accused of stealing more than $500,000 from her property management clients is facing 58 counts of embezzlement, grand theft, and insurance fraud.

Prosecutors say she was managing long-term property rentals at Seaside Real Estate and Property Management in Morro Bay when the crimes occurred.

Nations Wary Over Huawei Networks, Mulls to Ban Amid Spying Charges

Many nations across the world are grappling over whether to accept or reject Huawei Networks 5G technology – a leading Chinese company amid charges of spying.

Valerio Fabbri, writing in Geopolitica.info said that in some countries, Huawei faces product and 5G wireless network bans, security scrutiny and related pushback. Many countries allege that the company’s products may contain security holes that China’s government could use for spying. Furthermore, some countries allege that Huawei steals intellectual property from foreign technology companies. Despite such obstacles, many countries have proceeded with Huawei as a potential or confirmed choice for 5G wireless network projects and associated infrastructure.

Davidson County Man Fights in Court after Allegedly Stealing Company Secrets for New Boss

According to North Carolina Supreme Court documents, in 2009, Eric Tutton worked for KNC Technologies, formerly known as Ken-Nect Communications, in Davidson County as a project manager and was responsible for customer accounts and specific projects. The company installs low-voltage integrated systems such as security systems, nurse call systems, fire alarms and intercoms.

As part of his job, Tutton was familiar with contact information of KNC’s customers and business needs, according to court documents. He reviewed project plans, design information, bid information and pricing schemes for particular jobs. He created estimates, developed project bids and oversaw the progress and budget of KNC’s various installation jobs.
